Carrying a fundraiser?

 Monday October 12, 2020

Hello everyone! How's it goin? Everything here in Mesa is going well. This week went by really quick and I can't remember everything that happened. I'll start off with our "amigos". I'm pretty sure I've already told you guys about Martha and how we have her on date for baptism. Basically she is still going strong and we don't need to do much with her other than just meet with her every other day to keep her on track. We just go over a few simple things every now and then. Then with Gerardo he is still iffy. He still hasn't accepted baptism, but he's getting closer. We're teaching him the commandments to let him know what exactly he needs to keep and also we're bringing members from our branch to make friends with him so that he is more comfortable. He is still going good he just is taking longer than we expected.
Also another cool thing is now we're allowed to go street contacting! We are allowed to knock on formers doors and also on members, but we've never been allowed to talk to random people about the Gospel. It was a rule that we aren't allowed to talk to random people about the gospel and all we could offer is service. Which I thought was pretty dumb because what's the difference between talking to them about service and talking to them about the gospel? Like you're still talking to them, but apparently the topic made a big difference on how effective covid is or something haha I don't know. Anyways were allowed to talk to random people about the gospel now which is good. Now we should be able to find more people.
Something fun that happened was on Saturday we did a 6 hour service thing haha. It was a Fundraiser for Martha's daughter and we basically cooked a bunch of street tacos the whole time. Her daughter needs 6 thousand dollars to pay some fees so I dont think we raised that much but we made a lot. The funny thing was that me and my companions and the other hermanas in our district did everything. Me and my companions made the beef and tacos and the hermanas cut the meat and cut up other ingredients. Everyone else just sat around or left, so it was literally just us missionaries doing anything there which was weird because I thought that if you needed to raise 6 thousand dollars you would at least try to do something. Hahaha it was fun though. We got smoked out because the grill was right next to everything so by the time we were done we all smelled like smoke. My comps shirt even got holes in it so he had to throw it away.
Anyways that's about it for me, love you all!
